Last day...

Today is the last day of school... In my house there are a myriad of emotions and I am utterly exhausted. Having three kids at three different schools took more out of me than I expected it to this year... Just the driving alone was overwhelming since it's too far to walk and we have no school buses here. When I get some down time later today, I might have to calculate just how many hours of driving it all added up to... Just for 'fun' you know!

Teenage Son feels happy to have a break from the many hours of homework demanded by his overly competitive, high achieving high school. He is looking forward to getting his driver's license this summer and spending some quality time at Grandma and Grandpa's house in Idaho...

Teenage Daughter is relieved that her first year at our local, neighborhood middle school is over. She's looking forward to joining Teenage Son at our high school next year, but it scared of being 'the little fish in the big pond' at the same time. She's also over-the-top excited about going on a mission trip this summer to inner-city LA and is looking forward to her time in Idaho as well...

Young Son is sad. He loves his hands-on-learning-whole-child-focused school and will especially miss his friends this summer. We always try to keep in touch with friends over the summer, but it's hard since it's not our neighborhood school and everyone is spread out. Some of his friends won't be returning next year- so today is a day of goodbyes as well...

We do have some fun to look forward to this summer- a quick overnight to the ocean, the kid's trip to Idaho, J and I are going back to Africa, and we're going to try to fit a week in on the Northern California coast... Lots to look forward to!

What are your summer plans?
