WFMW- Yahoo! Calendar

I have three kids. That means that I have lots of doctors appointments, volunteer slots, carpools, meetings, orthodontist appointments, and dentist appointments to juggle. That's just the tip of the iceberg, and keeping track of it all is enough to drive any sane mom crazy!

After missing several appointments a couple of years ago, I realized that I needed something to keep me organized... Then I discovered Yahoo! Calendar... Some of the reasons that I like it include-

It's free- You do need to set up a yahoo account, but that's it.

It's easy to use- It's very user friendly. Once you get started, you'll quickly get the hang it!

Repeating event feature- I can input regularly occurring events once (like math tutoring for Teenage Daughter every Monday and Thursday) and the calendar will fill it in on those days until I tell it to stop.

E-mail reminders- I have my calendar set up to email me each morning with my list of things for the day. If I'm really worried about forgetting something important, I can have an additional reminder e-mailed during the day or even texted directly to my cell phone.

Yahoo group events- I belong to multiple Yahoo groups and all my group calendar events are automatically added to my personal calendar (you can disable this function if you prefer).

Location/Notes- When I input an appointment, I also add the phone number/address and any other info I might need... For instance if you scroll over 'pick Young Son up from school' the notes regarding where I meet him each day pop up...

Now I am really detailed with my calendar and have EVERYTHING that I need to do each day on it (as you may be able to see from the above photo that I snapped of today's schedule). I have a very simple reason for this- if anything happened to me and someone had to step in for me unexpectedly (even for something simple- like the flu) I know that everything he/she needs to know is there- from who is driving in our morning carpool that day, to who has the next ortho appointment. I have supplied my husband and my mom with my log in and password already- just in case... Another added benefit is that if J and I manage to get away for a few days, everything is there for my Mom when she comes to stay with the kids. Combine my calendar with the navigator in my car and she's all set!

So as you can see, Yahoo! calendar works for me. Now head on over to Shannon's for more Works For Me Wednesday tips and tricks...

I've never tried Yahoo Calendar but I love Google calendar. It lets you have a lot of different calendars all in one so I have all of my church things in orange, work in purple, appointments in red, etc. Then you can click and choose to see which calendars or have them all on at once. It's great, and I never forget anything!

My Darling Friend, please forgive this intrusion … but knowing your compassionate Heart, I am compelled to send this to you. Please read it, and follow your Heart’s leading. I have unwavering trust in that. I Love You, Your Servant, John-Michael

Oh my darlings, you sure know how to make a girl cry. I have just come home briefly to check in, there are too many messages to answer but I appreciate each and everyone one of then so very much.

Unfortunately, I have been given a bit of a bum steer in terms of Jack being able to stay in Hospice with me. That is actually not the case, apart from a night here and there, so the woman that told me it was possible has really got a lot to answer for as I pinned all my hopes on this. Anyway, Jacks Dad came down and can stay at my place this week at least but that's it. After that who knows and yet they are saying I need to be in Hospice for a lot longer yet.

The pain last night, defied description I have never felt such pain in my life including child birth, I was a sobbing mess, eventually they had to knock me out and I finally got some rest. Anyway they are comparing scans and trying very hard to work out what is best to do. I know I desperately need chemo, the longer I go without it, the bigger the tumour is growing and pressing further on the nerves. So now not only do I have megga pain that is not responding to treatment, I have a child not welcome at Hospice and my life is completely screwed.

I spent the night in tears and most of the day too, I don't have think I have any left but who knows, I will let you know how tonight goes. I am a broken woman.

There is talk about Jack having to move up with David to Warragul and change schools and everything. I said NO WAY I am not giving him up when I am not ready to die and I am not giving him up twice. I will work something out. There is no way he needs to go to another school, he needs the security of his local school here and his friends and having close contact with me.

Anyway my friends, it is a lot to contemplate tonight, I will do my best and I will not be letting my son go away from me no matter what. Please keep praying and sending me your love and care, I need you all so desperately right now. I hate to have to go, but I must leave now to go back to Hospice as they need to medicate me there, it is too dangerous to be on the medication I need to be on at home.

I will be thinking of you and I will post again either tomorrow or the next day, I promise.

Love to you all, my heart is full of you love and hugs to each and every one of you. Xxxx

Thanks for commenting on my blog post. It was great to see your suggestion on Yahoo! calendar, too.

Thanks for coming by and leaving a comment.

I think your tip is a great one. I'm not as busy as you are as my kids are grown, but I still need to get organized.
