If you live anywhere in the US, you are probably aware of the heat wave that has blanketed the West over the past couple of days. It's been upwards of 90 degrees here during the daytime, but at least it cools down at night. We've also been blessed with air conditioning at home- so it really hasn't been that bad. So far...
So far, I say, because on Tuesday the kids and I are leaving for camping in the scablands. (Why do I hear Lion King songs? Oh yeah, that would be the "pridelands"- someplace entirely differant. And probably more scenic.)
Anyway... Camping. In central Washington. Where it's dry. And hot. What could be better? While my parents are sleeping comfortably in their air conditioned Tab; I'll be sleeping in my tent, where it will be- what's the word I'm looking for? Oh yeah- hot! (Are you sensing that I don't really care for heat? Good.)
Actually, it's good training for an upcoming trip that my husband and I are taking to Africa in the fall. Where it will be hot. And humid. And since we'll be on a mission trip, no grumbling will be allowed.
So, I guess I'll put my best foot forward and just have a good time. After all, worst case scenario- we'll only be 17 miles away from Moses Lake, where they have hotels. With air conditioning.
It's always good to have a backup plan...

I was getting all ready to make some sarcastic remark about the HORRORS of heat and humidity in the summertime, but thought better of it. Living in the bay area, the heat waves were terrible -- not everyone has air conditioning out there! (Or community swimming pools!)
You're right Llama Momma- the weather here in the Bay Area is genarally pleasantly temperate. So when it does get hot, we don't really deal with it very well...
