Of naps, books, and television...

Today was my first back-to-normal day of per diem employment (translation- our new receptionist started full-time and I am back to working occasional days only)!

My day started out with an extra-early (5:30 am) doughnut and Starbucks run in honor of Pastor G's birthday. I have been attending daily 6am prayer at church all week- since today is Pastor G's 46th birthday a couple of us conspired to bring doughnuts, coffee, and hot chocolate for all. Since I usually roll out of bed and go directly to the church, I have been getting up at 5:45. This morning, however, I had to back it up a whole hour and woke up at 4:45 am! My husband, J, is always up at that time and it was really strange to be walking out the door before him... Anyway Pastor G and everyone else enjoyed the treats... Happy birthday Pastor G!

I spent the rest of the day napping, reading, and catching up on Top Chef. Did anyone else notice the announcer during the commercial break saying that the recipes from the episode could be found on the Top Chef website? This was, of course, following a 20 minute segment where the judges lambasted the dishes- of all the dishes prepared for the 'family favorites' challenge they only liked two... Yeah, after listening to the judges describe CJ's tuna cassarole as 'muddy' and "frightening" I'm running out to make it right now... Thank goodness I have the recipe!

Anyway, my sole other accomplishment today was reading Fannie Flagg's Can't Wait to Get to Heaven. It was a fun read, that might actually make you think at the same time- not too deep however! I have a whole stack of books to read this summer, which inspired me to post a reading list. We'll see how it goes!

I cannot picture Pastor G. at 46. He will live on in my memory as a 29-year old youth pastor!

Top Chef -- need to check my TIVO. I love this show!
