Today is J's birthday. I won't give his age away... Let's just say that he's over 40, but he still has a few years until the big 50...
In honor of his big day, I'm making his favorite home cooked meal- seafood gumbo. We'll serve it over white rice along with a loaf of crusty french bread. After dinner we'll have J's favorite treat- cheesecake.
J doesn't like us to make a big fuss over his birthday. Partly because he doesn't like being reminded that he's getting older, partly because the fact that it's the day after Christmas has always been a bummer. So we'll have a nice family celebration and J will open his gifts (NO combination Christmas/birthday gifts allowed in this house!).
So if you see J today, be sure to wish him a happy birthday. And let me be the first to say- Happy Birthday Sweetheart! I love you!!!

No christmas / birthday gifts allowed at my house either. And absolutely no christmas wrapping paper on birthday gifts!
At least the noisy boys have a week in between...
My dh's is on New Year's! We don't do combo gifts, either. It makes thinking of nice gifts more challenging!
