Last week we upgraded our family pets. In the past we have had pet rats. We also had an stray cat who adopted us- until she disappeared last September (of course that was only after we invested several hundred dollars in a vet exam, vaccinations, micro-chipping, and spaying!).
Anyway- when my kids learned that a family at Young Son's school was fostering two black kittens they immediately began campaigning for us to adopt them. I didn't need a whole lot of convincing, but after a couple weeks of begging (the kids kept asking too!) and a kitten visit at our home- J finally relented and agreed that we could adopt them.
And that's how Jade and Jasmine came to reside at our house. They are about 4 months old and are full of frantic, kitten energy. Unfortunately all that energy includes climbing our window screens. Since we open our windows year round (it is California!) just taking the screens off is not a viable solution.
So yesterday, I took the kittens to a groomer to be fitted with these. They should last about a month, by which time the kittens will have moved on from the window screens to the Christmas tree!
It's going to be a busy holiday season!

So...how are they getting along with the rats?
Oh my goodness, they are so cute! Congratulations! You will have so much fun with them. Need any toy suggestions? Laser pointers. You can get them in the pet section at Target and your cats will run around chasing them like crazy. Have fun with your new kitties!
Llama Momma-
Sadly we had to have our rat put to sleep earlier this fall... Otherwise, the kittens would definately be a very bad idea!
