Leavin' on a jet plane...

This morning I got up at the ungodly hour of 5:30 (AM!) and drove Young Son 45 minutes to the Oakland International Airport where he got on a flight all by himself to go to Grandma and Poppy's house. Our kids regularly travel sans parents to visit my folks in North Idaho, but this is the first time that Young Son has gone without his older siblings.

But since there are copious amounts of snow there this year, and Southwest was having a killer deal on airfare, and Young Son has never gotten to play in the snow- we bought him a ticket and sent him on his very own, snowy adventure. (Teenage Son gets to go to Tahoe on our church's youth group snow retreat and Teenage Daughter is going to Yosemite for a week with her class- so they'll have their own snow adventures.)

Young Son took amused himself with my camera as we waited for his plane to arrive at the gate...

Finally his plane arrived and it was time to board. After the quickest hug and kiss ever, and with nary a backwards glance- Young Son made his way down the jet way...

And just a few short hours later-

Snow!

(For him, of course. Me? I'm sick of the snow...)

Fun for him, but it would have been so hard for me to let him go!
